My life experiences have prepared me to represent you as a Legislator.....

......And enables me to represent the citizens of Southeastern South Dakota:

  • Meeting Ben Carson at the Capitol in Pierre, an American politician and neurosurgeon who performed the first successful separation of conjoined twins, was truly a livetime experience.
  • It was an honor previously serving as your Representative in the South Dakota Legislature
  • Currently serving on the National EPA Committee on Animal Agriculture Production.
  • Currently serving on the Turner County Farm Bureau Board of Directors
  • Currently serving on the South Dakota Ag United (current board president)
  • Served on the State Farm Bureau Board of Directors
  • Served on the Nutrient Research and Education Council
  • Served on Monsanto’s Growing Rural Education Council
  • Served on American Farm Bureau Advocacy Committee on Water Quality and Irrigation

I have had the unique privilege of meeting several of the Legislators and Senators from across the State of South Dakota to discuss many of the State's needs. With a past opportunity to participate in a transatlantic dialogue agricultural trip to Germany,  it has benefited many of our discussions. My involvement with the Farm Bureau, my past opportunity to lobby in Pierre, as well as in Washington, D.C. and experience of testifying before several legislative committees is a benefit on the South Dakota Chamber floor. I have developed strong relationships with our Governor and many of the state leaders. These opportunities combined with my life experiences have prepared me to represent you in the South Dakota State Legislature.

Experience That Matters

My life experience started with my involvement in the following organizations and has given me a well-rounded, working knowledge of agriculture, business, and government. My participation and leadership started early with FFA and 4-H.

I continue to be very active in my community serving in various leadership positions. At the county level, as a past alternate member of the Turner County Planning and Zoning Committee and the Board vice president of the Turner Lincoln Clay Water Board District. I also serve as the Turner County Farm Bureau president, I am the president of the Southeastern South Dakota Irrigators’ Association and have served on various leadership roles on my church board.

I Am A Lifelong Resident of Turner County

I graduated from Centerville High School and from SDSU with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from the College of Agriculture, Food & Environmental Sciences. My wife Joyce and I are proud to continue my family’s tradition of farming for over 125 years in Turner County.  My decision to run for State House comes from a deep sense of commitment to serve my community by creating a positive impact in South Dakota.  I have witnessed firsthand the challenges facing citizens like you and me.  Whether it is affordable healthcare, quality education or economic opportunities.  I believe that every person deserves a fair chance at success.

Trust is the foundation of a great leader.

Like the Farmall H, a trusted leader in Agriculture, I look forward to being the strong voice that our farms, families, and communities need in Pierre.
Thank you for your time, support, and prayers.
